Solar Panel Grants/ Discounts 

Grants and investigations are worth investigating for solar panels. 

  • 0% VAT: This reduces upfront costs for solar panels, battery storage, and insulation materials. see here
  • Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), which offers payments for exporting electricity with these technology types up to a capacity of 5MW to 50MW.  The technologies are Solar Photovoltaic (solar PV) , Wind, Micro Combined Heat and Power (micro-CHP), Hydro and Anaerobic Digestion (AD). Heat Pumps

Boiler replacement scheme. This scheme is open to people in England and Wales. It provides upfront capital grants to support the installation of heat pumps, solar heating and biomass boilers in homes. Acting on behalf of property owners, installers can apply for £7,500 off the cost and installation of an air, ground and water  source heat pump. Warm Home Discount

The Warm Home Discount (WHD) scheme supports those on low income who are vulnerable to cold-related illness or living wholly or mainly in fuel poverty, and came into effect in April 2011. The government has extended the scheme through to March 2026. The scheme requires domestic energy suppliers with over 1000 customers to provide an annual discount on customer bills. see here

Warm Homes: Local Grant

This scheme is due to start in April 2025 and is set to run for 3-5 years. Devon County Council distributes the fund through Energy Saving Devon. Further details of this scheme will be released shortly. look here via East Devon District Council/ Exeter City Council. if you’re eligible and your local council has funding available, they will arrange a home survey to see how your home could be made more energy efficient. They might suggest improvements like installing wall, loft and underfloor insulation, air source heat pumps, smart controls, and solar panels. Your local council will then organise and pay for any improvement work they’ve agreed with you. You will not need to pay for it.

ECO 4

  • ECO4 - to qualify for solar panels, live in a property with an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G. The ECO scheme supports energy efficiency measures in the home of those considered to be in fuel poverty, via receiving specific government benefits, such as Universal Credit or Housing Benefit. see here

Great British Insulation Scheme

You may be able to get free or cheaper insulation to reduce your home’s energy bills.

You might get support if your home, if its EPC has an energy performance certificate (EPC) of D to G - is in Council Tax bands A-D in England or A-E in Scotland or Wales. You can be a homeowner, landlord, or tenant, see here
